Drones can be fun to journey, but they’re also a throbbing headache for security. Drones are soaring spies, poking their nostril in delicate areas, and there are increasing concerns they may be used as traveling improvised explosive devices (IEDs.)
Small, nimble, and fast, drones are hard to take down. Even then, firing at a drone with a tool reveals a problem–missed photographs can endanger the general public.
Enter the Blighter Anti-UAV IMMUNE SYSTEM (AUDS). The Blighter functions by severing the unseen tether of radio consistency commands that links the drone using its operator. Slice the tether and the drone can’t receive orders. The drone will fallout of the sky or take flight on until it crashes.
Blighter involves three devices. The first, an air security radar, scans for incoming drones. Once discovered, it hands off the mark to the EO (electro-optical) tracker. The EO tracker, which includes a 12x focus and thermal imager, locks onto the drone and allows the operator to aesthetically inspect it.
After the operator chooses the drone must expire, he triggers the Directional Radio Rate of recurrence Inhibitor. This is actually the “gun” of the machine, which “fires” directed radio alerts at the same consistency as the drone’s handles. Unable to obtain further instructions, the drone is effectively neutralized.
Blighter’s system is appealing, and could help with keeping the skies free from bullets. The machine may continue steadily to work against commercial drones, but expect military-grade drones to boost their ability to keep functioning even in hostile surroundings. Drone and counter-drone steps would be the new arms competition– and like any hands race, neither area will stay still for long.
